ePortfolio Ownership

For most of our lives, we have been told exactly what is needed to get an “A” on an assignment and what exactly the teacher is looking for. It is easier to check the boxes and provide the work the teacher is looking for than to create your own thoughts and ideas. However, when creating an ePortfolio the point is to be able to create your own thoughts and ideas and have your own voice and ownership over your site. So who really owns the ePortfolio?
At this stage in our education, I feel that our ePortfolios are still owned by the school, as we have specific information that needs to be added to our sites in order to complete the assignment. However, we are given choice and ownership over how we go about completing the tasks or assignments given to us in each class. So I believe that we have partial ownership of our ePortfolio for now.
With that being said, I feel that this gives us an opportunity to grow and learn how to use our ePortfolio correctly while still hitting all of the requirements for the grading process. Since we started creating our ePortfolios I have had many ideas of how I could incorporate it into my everyday life as a Physical Education Teacher and how it would benefit my students and I am eager to try adding those ideas to my ePortfolio.
